Works well but only lasts one year

I enjoyed using the program, but when I upgraded to a new iPhone it would not work since it had been over a year since I bought the program. I knew I would not keep getting upgrades after 1 year but I assumed the program would still work. 79.95 seems too much to keep a program current when you have already pId that amount to buy it.
